Event Notes: British & Irish Lions Supporters Offered Free Accommodation By Local Fans

British & Irish Lions supporters traveling to New Zealand later this year are "being offered free accommodation by local fans." The "Adopt a Lions Fan 2017" Facebook page has been created because of a "lack of affordable lodgings for the estimated 20,000 fans who will make the journey." The tour, which starts on June 3 and finishes on July 7, will include 10 matches (BBC, 3/28).

A men's football friendly between Ivory Coast and Senegal was "abandoned when fans invaded the pitch in Paris." The African sides were level at 1-1 on 88 minutes when a "handful of fans broke onto the pitch, with one appearing to rugby tackle Senegal's Lamine Gassama." Players ran from the pitch and referee Tony Chapron "opted to end the fixture" (BBC, 3/28).

The UFC announced the "first five fights of its landmark Singapore card" on June 17 with former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski set to face Marcin Tybura. The main and co-main events for the Singapore card have yet to be announced but rumors earlier this week suggested Holly Holm "could be the headline name on the bill" (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 3/28).
