Event Notes: FA Of Wales Wants To Host More Major Finals

The FA of Wales is "considering a future bid to host another Champions League final." Wales hosts the "showpiece event" on June 3 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. FAW CEO Jonathan Ford said that he "would love the FAW to be considered in the future to host these major events." Ford added that the FAW "built up its credentials in hosting major tournaments and matches," and he wanted more. Ford: "We do not want it to just stop there in June. We would like to continue to do it" (BBC, 3/24).

A source said that the rugby match between Scotland and Italy in Singapore is "definitely on for June 10." Exact details have "yet to be confirmed," the source said, as "a number of companies are hoping to stage the event at Singapore National Stadium," the second home of Super Rugby side Sunwolves. The two sides will stop over in the island state "on their way to Australia and Fiji" (KYODO, 3/26).

Nigeria's men's football friendly with Burkina Faso on Monday in London has been "called off after several Burkina Faso players failed to gain visas" to enter the U.K. According to the Nigeria Football Federation, "seven players in the Burkinabe contingent failed to secure entry visas into the United Kingdom." The match was scheduled as part of Nigeria's build-up for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa in June (BBC, 3/25).
