Super Rugby Side Wakefield Chair Rules Out Groundshare With Featherstone

Super Rugby side Wakefield Chair Michael Carter "rejected a ground-sharing offer" from neighboring Championship side Featherstone, but still has not "decided on the club's future venue," according to Katie Shanahan of SKY SPORTS. Carter has a "big decision to make" as Wakefield plans to leave the club's "historic, but rundown Belle Vue ground" at the end of the season. Wakefield is "likely to move in" with Championship side Dewsbury but is "also considering a ground-share" with Championship side Bradford after ruling out Featherstone. Carter believes the local authority "still has a moral obligation to help the club build a new stadium" -- just off the M62 at Newmarket -- with planning permission being granted five years ago. Former Wakefield and Rugby Football League Chair Rodney Walker last month stepped down as chair from the Wakefield & District Community Stadium Trust "after failing to complete the stadium plan" (SKY SPORTS, 3/23).
