Franchise Notes: Third Deposit For AC Milan Expected From Sino-Europe Sports This Week

Milan TV assured a new €100M ($108.1M) deposit for Serie A side AC Milan "will be paid this week" by Sino-Europe Sports. The Chinese consortium is "in the process of buying the club from Silvio Berlusconi and Fininvest, but the deal has been hit by a series of delays." After the March 3 deadline was missed, SES agreed to pay a third deposit of €100M, but that had not arrived last week, "throwing the takeover into question" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 3/21).

Rugby Football Union Championship side London Irish "will continue playing in Reading next season" even if it misses out on promotion, CEO Bob Casey said. The Exiles "applied to groundshare" at League Championship side Brentford's planned new stadium. Madejski Stadium looks set to continue as Irish's "home ground" until the Lionel Road site in Brentford is completed -- "hoped" to be in Aug. '19 (BBC, 3/21).
