Real Madrid, Barcelona To Bring Rivalry To Miami As Part Of This Year's ICC

The "El Clásico" rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid will come to the U.S. this summer as part of the Int’l Champions Cup. The July 29 match at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami will be surrounded by nearly a week's worth of events, including a legends match, concerts and other festivities akin to the Super Bowl's NFL Experience. Additional details on the '17 ICC are expected to be announced later this month (Ian Thomas, Staff Writer). In Miami, Michelle Kaufman reported the game will result in a "rare clash off Spanish soil" between Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona's Lionel Messi. Thousands of footballs with logos of both teams are being dropped off at parks "all over South Florida" on Friday to promote the match. Real Madrid had been "committed to be part" of this year's ICC, while Barcelona "played in the ICC last summer" (MIAMI HERALD, 3/10).
