League Notes: AFL Clubs To Vote On Possible Rule Changes Ahead Of '17 Season

Australian Football League clubs will "next week vote on whether to include two controversial rule changes" in the '17 premiership season which starts on March 23. After seeking feedback from AFL senior coaches, clubs "will provide written submissions to the league on proposed changes to the third-man up rule and the deliberate rushed behind rule." The AFL will then decide on "whether to make one subtle and one major change to the interpretation of the two rules" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 3/6).

The Pakistan Cricket Board on Monday "formed a three-member tribunal headed by a retired judge to investigate the spot-fixing case allegedly involving Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif in the Pakistan Super League." Khan and Latif were "unceremoniously sent home after the first match of the PSL last month and were later charged in a corruption probe that threatened to undermine the tournament." PCB Chair Shaharyar Khan said that former Lahore High Court Judge Asghar Haider "would head the inquiry" (AFP, 3/6).

Generations For Peace and the Int'l Basketball Foundation on Monday signed a three-year partnership to develop sport for peace programs for youth in Juba, South Sudan (FIBA).

Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning Owner Zhang Jindong said that more teams "should be absorbed into China's football leagues for fostering more talented professionals and upgrading the national teams." Suning Commerce Group Founder Zhang said that the CSL "should expand from 16 to 18 or 20 teams" (XINHUA, 3/6).
