Cardiff City Owner Says He Is 'In No Rush' To Sell Club, Will Entertain Offers

League Championship side Cardiff City Owner Vincent Tan said that he is "in no rush to sell the club" after a report said that "he wanted to sell his football business interests," according to the BBC. The Malaysian businessman said that he "would listen to offers for the Welsh club" however, which he took over in '10. The report claimed the Bluebirds were "among the teams he was going to sell." Tan: "For the record, I have no plans to sell any of the clubs but if I am offered the right price, I will certainly consider." In addition to Cardiff City, Tan has interests in MLS's Los Angeles FC, Bosnia's FC Sarajevo and Belgium's Kortrijk Voetbalt CVBA. He has "already turned down offers for Cardiff." He said, "I have been approached on numerous occasions by parties wanting to buy CCFC but the prices offered have not been right" (BBC, 3/1). The PA's Phil Blanche reported the club's debts to Tan in the most recently available accounts "stood at more than" £100M ($123M), although the owner has "begun a process of writing off that amount following a pledge to make the Bluebirds debt-free" by '21. But reports in the American media on Tuesday "suggested that Tan would be willing to sell Cardiff" for £50M ($61.4M) (PA, 3/1).
