ManU Decides Against Installing Video Screens At Old Trafford To Preserve Tradition

ManU "examined the possibility of installing video screens" but decided against it -- because the club believes Old Trafford is a "football purist stadium," according to Mike Keegan of the London DAILY MAIL. The club said that due to the design of the stand roofs at its 76,000-capacity home, "difficulties have been faced in finding a space for screens which would not block the views of some fans." Officials, who have "no intention of cutting capacity to accommodate a screen," added that such additions would "besmirch" ManU's tradition. ManU currently uses a "number of small scoreboards which display the score and time," prompting some sections of its support to "call for giant video screens." However, the club told supporters groups that the short-term view is that "Old Trafford remains a football purist stadium and there are no plans to introduce big screens." ManU has also been "informed of issues over the standard of the pies at the Theatre of Dreams." Fans asked for matchday staff to be "trained in how to cook the savoury snacks properly" and claimed that the pastries at Old Trafford were "the worst in the Premier League" (DAILY MAIL, 3/1).
