Bayern Munich Launches 24/7 Pay-TV Channel FC Bayern.tv

Bayern Munich "will launch its own linear TV channel in collaboration with Deutsche Telekom," according to Jörn Krieger of BROADBAND TV NEWS. FC Bayern.tv live will go on air on Monday at 11am local time and "report about the football club 24 hours per day in HD quality." The pay-TV channel will be available on Telekom's IPTV platform Entertain TV, as a live stream on the internet at www.fcbayern.tv/live and on smartphones and tablets within the FC Bayern app (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 2/23). THE DRUM's Tony Connelly reported Bayern Munich Dir of Media & Communication Stefan Mennerich said, "FC Bayern.tv live is another crucial element in our media mix. We'll offer Bayern fans background reports, talk show formats, exclusive interviews and, most notably, live content." To promote the launch, "the channel will be freely available to anyone for the first week" and Telekom customers with a post-paid contract and internet flat-rate will be given a free 12-month subscription to the new channel (THE DRUM, 2/26).
