Event Notes: Barcelona, Real Madrid To Square Off In Miami

Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly "set to meet each other in Miami this summer, according to reports in Catalonia." Barça has not announced its plans for the offseason but sources said that the club plans to visit the U.S. once again, "with an official announcement expected on March 21." Spanish radio station RAC1 previously reported that Barcelona will face Real Madrid on July 29 as part of the Int'l Champions Cup (ESPN.com, 2/24).

Former sparring partners Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao confirmed on Twitter that they will fight on April 23, with Khan having "turned down the opportunity late last year to face British rival Kell Brook." However, the venue is "yet to be announced, which could yet determine whether the contest actually goes ahead on that date." Either the UAE or the U.S. are the "likely homes" for Pacquiao-Khan, according to Khan's camp (London TELEGRAPH, 2/26).

Nanjing, China, was announced as the venue for the 2017 Int'l Volleyball Federation (FIVB) World Grand Prix Finals. The event will be held at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre from Aug. 2-6. China will be joined by the top five teams from the Group 1 Preliminary Round standings to compete for this year's title (FIVB).
