Marketplace Roundup: La Liga Partners With Fantasy Sports App Ballr

Live fantasy sports app Ballr sealed a three-year sponsorship with La Liga. The Singapore-based company will develop a mobile game for fans of Spanish football. The app will allow users to select footballers, whose performances will earn them points that can be converted into prizes. Ballr will have a brand presence at La Liga events (ASIA SPONSORSHIP NEWS, 2/23).

Octagon announced it was appointed Shell's global motorsport hospitality agency of record. The agency will be responsible for campaign development across Shell’s motorsport hospitality globally -- including Shell’s 70-year "innovation partnership" with Ferrari, which includes F1, GT Racing and tailor-made events for Shell at Ferrari’s Maranello HQ. In addition, Octagon will help Shell maximize the value of technical partnerships with Hyundai-Shell-Mobis World Rally Team, BMW Motorsport in DTM and Ducati Corse in MotoGP and WEC events (Octagon).

Russian finance group VTB was named the title partner for this year's Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix. The company’s branding was included in the race’s logo and VTB obtained additional advertising, marketing and communication options (F1).

The Queensland Rugby Union named Smartgroup a major partner of rugby in Queensland for the next three years. On the eve of the upcoming Super Rugby season, the QRU confirmed that Smartgroup’s Smartsalary brand will appear on the playing shorts of the St. George Queensland Reds (St. George Queensland Reds).

Australian Football League side Richmond named Bang & Olufsen its official audiovisual partner. It is the brand's first AFL partnership. Bang & Olufsen will have logo presence on the AFL and Victorian Football League club's home and away matchday shorts. The brand will also be integrated throughout the club's video and social media channels (Richmond).

European esports team Unicorns of Love and mineral water brand Gerolsteiner announced a partnership ahead of the Extreme Masters in Katowice, Poland. Gerolsteiner will supply the team with mineral water and flavored drinks, and its logo will appear on the UoL jerseys (Lagardère).

Franco-Swiss railway corporation TGV Lyria “signed a partnership contract” with the Int’l Ice Hockey Federation for the 2017 Ice Hockey World Championships. The competition will be held in Paris at the AccorHotels Arena and in Cologne, Germany, at the Lanxess Arena from May 5-21 (SPORTBUZZ BUSINESS, 2/23).
