National Rugby League Revenue Sharing On Table At Meetings With Club Captains

The National Rugby League has "given its first indication it may be willing to budge on the issue of revenue sharing, following a historic meeting involving the 16 club captains which prompted some of the biggest names in the game to suggest they were finally feeling the love from the governing body," according to Brent Read of THE AUSTRALIAN. CEO Todd Greenberg emerged from the forum to give the players a "flicker of hope they could successfully negotiate a fixed percentage of the game’s revenue, one of the key claims being pursued the Rugby League Players Association as part of talks over the collective bargaining agreement." Greenberg said, "We didn’t talk about the specifics this morning but we’re open to talk to the players about what we call a genuine partnership. If that goes to a fixed share of revenue, that is something we’re open to talking about" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 2/24).
