Sources Say AC Milan Sale To Chinese Investors To Be Finalized March 3

The sale of Serie A side AC Milan to a group of Chinese investors is set to be finalized on March 3, two sources close to the matter said on Tuesday, "in what would be the biggest Chinese investment in a European club," according to Segreti & Pollina of REUTERS. The deal, valuing the club at €740M ($780.4M) including €220M ($232M) of debt, was "originally supposed to close at the end of last year but the Chinese buyers struggled to get final approval from Beijing." Former Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi agreed in August to sell to Sino-Europe Sports Investment, "backed by Haixa Capital and entrepreneur Yonghong Li." The sources said that the investors "are due to pay" Berlusconi the outstanding €320M ($337.5M) and are also "expected to inject a further" €100M ($105.5M) into the team, as initially agreed in August (REUTERS, 2/21).
