Franchise Notes: Everton Livestreams U23 Match Against Southampton

Everton operated a "paid-for live stream" of its U23 game against Southampton on Monday as part of the club’s efforts to "strengthen its relationship with the local community by raising money for the city’s homeless." The live stream was offered through the club’s own TV platform, EvertonTV, and cost £3.99 ($4.97). The stunt was "part of a wider fundraising campaign" to raise £230,000 ($286,500) to provide a supporting living initiative for young people between the ages of 16 and 23 (THE DRUM, 2/17).

Lincoln City's FA Cup "heroes" are set to receive £5,000 ($6,200) each in bonuses after beating EPL side Burnley in the fifth round. Sean Raggett's 89th-minute winner "booked Lincoln's place" in the quarterfinals for the first time in the club's 133-year history. It was the also "the first time a non-League team had made it through to the last eight of the competition since 1914" (London DAILY MAIL, 2/19).

Premier League side Leicester City complained to the FA about "abuse, provocation and intimidation" it says its players, fans and staff suffered during Saturday's match at League One side Millwall. Leicester City said that it received "numerous complaints" and "will not accept the safety of our supporters, players, and staff being compromised." Mounted police "were deployed after the game to keep the home fans away from the Leicester enclosure" (BBC, 2/20).
