New Olympic Council Of Ireland President Considering Internal Investigation

The new president of the Olympic Council of Ireland said that "she will consider continuing with an internal report into ticketing arrangements at the Rio Games," despite a legal threat from former OCI President Pat Hickey, according to Aaron Rogan of the LONDON TIMES. Sarah Keane, who was elected to the OCI last week, said that the new exec board "needed to work transparently to rebuild the trust of sporting federations." An independent investigation into the handling of tickets at the Olympics "was halted in November" after lawyers for Hickey "threatened to make an application to the High Court for an injunction preventing the completion of the report." Keane said that the matter "would be reopened at an upcoming board meeting." Hickey, who is facing charges, "has denied any wrongdoing." Keane: "The crisis committee was stood down in November but some of the issues we were dealing with are still not resolved so they will require board discussion. What decision we take I can’t say yet" (LONDON TIMES, 2/16).
