Media Notes: DSport, Neo Sports To Broadcast World Touring Car Championships In India

Viewers in India will see "extensive coverage" of the FIA World Touring Car Championship in '17 following the signing of agreements with broadcasters DSport and Neo Sports. Neo Sports, which is also available in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, will broadcast a 24-minute highlights program following each event. DSport, a new sports channel in India from Discovery, will show all 20 WTCC races on a delayed basis. DSport is available in 35 million Indian households and will broadcast 4,000 hours of live content each year (AUTO MOBIL SPORT, 2/13).

J Sports Corp. and Dorna World Superbike Organization announced the agreement of a contract extension to continue coverage throughout Japan. The opening round of the Superbike World Championship '17 season is at Phillip Island from Feb. 24-26. WorldSBK will be shown on primetime Monday slots. Japanese fans can watch the action live with English commentary on J Sports' internet service, thanks to support from Pirelli (WorldSBK). 

Over 1.9 million viewers across the Eurosport network watched Switzerland's Beat Fuez edge Canada's Eric Guay for gold in the men's Alpine Skiing World Championships downhill in St. Moritz on Sunday. An average of 612,400 people in Germany tuned in to the event. The numbers represent the best-ever viewing figures for an Alpine Skiing World Championships event on Eurosport. The broadcast saw a 3% increase on average compared to the same period in '15 (Eurosport). 

The Six Nations match between France and Scotland drew an average audience of 5.2 million viewers on France 2. The public broadcaster had a peak audience of 6.4 million and a market share of 34.6% for the match, which France won 22-16. The match was also broadcast live on Twitter (L’ÉQUIPE, 2/13).
