Lionel Messi Renews Contract With Adidas, Is Reportedly Tied To German Brand For Life

Lionel Messi announced on Facebook that he signed a new contract with adidas, according to Roger Gonzalez of CBS SPORTS. Spanish broadcaster Cope reported the deal "is a lifetime contract." Cope tweeted, "Messi renews for life with Adidas. A lifetime contract that ties him to the German brand until the end of his career."

Messi has "long been sponsored by the German sportswear company, and now he is set when it comes to his biggest sponsorship." Details as to "how much the new deal will pay Messi are not yet known." Meanwhile, Messi is still in talks with Barcelona about a new deal as his club contract is "set to expire in 2018" (CBS SPORTS, 2/11).
