Media Notes: Twitter To Livestream Four Six Nations Matches Featuring France

Twitter will livestream four of France's Six Nations tournament matches “after it reached an agreement with media rights holder France Télévisions.” The games will be shown on Twitter “at the same time as France 2’s broadcast.” The four matches to be livestreamed are France-Scotland (Feb. 12), Ireland-France (Feb. 25), Italy-France (March 11) and France-Wales (March 18) (CB NEWS, 2/10).

France Télévisions was announced as the official TV partner of the French National Olympic Committee (CNOSF) from ’17-20. The two signed an agreement to “promote all sports and their respective national federations to the general public.” The public broadcaster will “finance the production of programs to be carried out in connection with the CNOSF” (L’ÉQUIPE, 2/9).

Spanish National Police raided a Málaga store that was "suspected of hosting an illegal IPTV streaming business." Y Internet was being run by two U.K. nationals and was running an unauthorized subscription service relaying 100 int'l channels, some of them featuring Premier League matches. It was "selling subscriptions to many of the foreign nationals who lived in the area" (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 2/10).

Koala Contenidos, which last year produced a documentary titled "1986. La historia detrás de la Copa" ("1986. The story behind the [FIFA World] Cup"), announced that it is making a documentary about the Argentine basketball team. It will be called "Jugando con el alma" ("Playing with soul") and will chronicle the "Golden Generation" of Argentine basketball, including the 2004 Olympic team that won Gold (CLARÍN, 2/10).

ESPN will deliver live coverage of the 2017 X Games Oslo on BT Sport/ESPN in the U.K., as well as live and on demand coverage on ESPNPlayer.com across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Fans can watch live starting on March 8. The coverage will also be available on ESPN Select (ESPN). 

Motorsport Network formed a partnership with Team Penske to provide fans with exclusive content from the team's drivers, crew members and staff on Motorsport.com throughout the '17 season. Team Penske currently features 10 drivers who compete in three major racing divisions throughout North America and Australia (Motorsport). 

Lagardère Sports announced it signed an int'l media rights deal with USA Track & Field. Lagardère Sports will distribute worldwide media rights (outside the U.S.) for selected events. The multi-year deal will run from '17-19 (Lagardère Sports). 

Arewa24, the 24/7 all-Hausa language entertainment and lifestyle satellite TV channel, production studio and media company, announced the launch of a new programming division, A24 Sports. A24 Sports will increase its production of original sports series and short-form interstitial content (Arewa24).
