Media Notes: Canal Digital Sees Subscribers, Revenue Fall At End Of '16

Subscriber numbers and revenues fell for Canal Digital in the last three months of '16. The Telenor Broadcast company "saw subscribers erode to 862,000 households in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, from 897,000" at the same point in '15. Fourth quarter profits at Canal Digital slipped from NOK 182M ($22.1M) to NOK 122M ($14.8M). The drop follows changes to the broadcaster's sports offer (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 2/2).

Wednesday night’s Coupe de France match between Paris St. Germain and Rennes was watched by an average audience of 426,000 viewers on Eurosport 2. The match, which PSG won 4-0, drew a peak audience of 567,000 viewers. The audience was the highest for Eurosport this season (L’ÉQUIPE, 2/2).
