Event Notes: Fans Lash Out At Scottish Rugby For Listing Six Nations Tickets On Viagago

Scottish rugby fans "are in uproar" after Six Nations tickets were listed on secondary sales sites for up to "17 times their face value." Scottish Rugby admitted to giving sites such as Viagogo an "advance allocation of briefs for the upcoming tournament under the terms of a commercial agreement." Scottish Rugby said that the Viagogo "link-up" aimed "to protect fans from ticket touts." On Monday, tickets for the Ireland game with a face value of £62 ($77.64) were being offered for £400 ($500.89) each -- with Viagogo charging £75 ($93.92) "on top for tax and commission" (London DAILY MIRROR, 2/2).

New Zealand Cricket and local authorities "have agreed to an urgent inquiry to determine why the second one-day international between the hosts and Australia was abandoned on Thursday without a ball being bowled." Morning rain delayed the scheduled start time, "but the conditions improved enough for the ground staff to prepare McLean Park in Napier for a shortened match." Australia captain Aaron Finch said, "There were parts of the ground where you’d hit the ball and water would just go everywhere. It wasn’t ideal, I don’t think it would have been safe for players to play on" (REUTERS, 2/2).
