Franchise Notes: Morecambe Fails To Pay Players, Staff On Time

League Two side Morecambe Manager Jim Bentley confirmed that "players and some staff have not been paid again as a takeover deal has yet to be completed." U.S.-based Italian businessman Joseph Cala agreed to buy Abdulrahman Al-Hashemi's stake in G50, the company that owns the club. Cala, 56, had said that he "expected wages and bills to creditors to be paid no later than Tuesday" (BBC, 2/1).

Paris St. Germain and tire manufacturer Multistrada Arah Sarna announced the opening of a PSG Academy in Bali. Operated year-round by Indonesian first division club Bali United, this academy is now open. The first training session was held on Jan. 28. In total, 49 children between the ages of six and 19 participated in the maiden session (PSG).

National League side Sutton United Chair Bruce Elliott said that the club wants "to keep the FA Cup fifth-round tie against Arsenal" at its 5,000-capacity Gander Green Lane. Elliott said that rumors the tie could be switched to Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park were "untrue." Elliott: "We would only do that for safety reasons. The FA are very keen to play the game at Sutton" (BBC, 1/31).

League One side Fleetwood Town has been fined £4,000 ($5,068) by the FA for "failing to keep accurate records of players' whereabouts for doping tests." The club was handed the penalty after "failing to ensure the information was accurate at the club and have accepted the charge" (PA, 2/1).
