NICOLAI ADAM, the head coach of India’s U17 World Cup squad, who had been asked to resign by the national football body after "several players complained of abusive behaviour by the German," has reportedly agreed to leave. Sources said that Adam came to an agreement with the All India Football Federation "on separation wages." Considering the "serious nature of the letter, that indirectly amounted to child abuse, the AIFF top bosses promptly decided to fire Adam without even calling an emergent committee meeting" (HINDUSTAN TIMES, 1/31). ... Former Mongolian-born sumo wrestler TOKITENKU died Tuesday of malignant lymphoma, the Japan Sumo Association said. He was 37. Tokitenku, who retired last August and became sumo elder MAGAKI, "competed in 63 grand sumo tournaments, including three at the fourth highest rank of komusubi, and won one Technique Prize during his 13-year career." Tokitenku obtained Japanese citizenship in Jan. '14. He was diagnosed with the illness in the fall of '15 and "missed the following five tournaments" before he retired (KYODO, 1/31).
