Eurosport signed former German football captain MATTHIAS SAMMER and presenter JAN HENKEL to front Eurosport Germany's coverage of the Bundesliga from the '17-18 season (Eurosport). ... The J.League announced that KOZO KINOMOTO, an administrator who "contributed to the development" of Japanese professional football, died, aged 68. Kinomoto, who stopped playing at the age of 26 when he had a kidney removed, "functioned as an administrator with the help of dialysis." A "leader" in moving Japanese football from its amateur origins to the formation of a pro league, Kinomoto became known as the man who "gambled his life to create the J-League" (KYODO, 1/16). ... Bangladesh cricket captain MUSHFIQUR RAHIM was "hit on the back of the helmet on the fifth day and had to be taken to hospital." The incident took place in the 43rd over of Bangladesh's second innings when TIM SOUTHEE bowled a bouncer that "hit Mushfiqur just behind his left ear as he was trying to duck." Initial X-rays and scans to his neck "suggested he was out of immediate danger" (ESPN.com, 1/15).
