Massive Bar, Microbrewery To Be Built Next To New Perth Stadium

Sport-lovers heading to the new stadium at Burswood "will be able to wet the whistle on the way to the oval with plans for a massive bar and microbrewery next to the ground," according to Brendan Foster of WA TODAY. Tenders have reportedly been put out for "the construction of the Riverbridge Bar next to the yet unfinished Swan River pedestrian bridge" on the Burswood Peninsula. The steel cable-stay bridge will give sports punters a "seamless walk to the Perth Stadium from the city." The construction of the tavern, "which will involve sprucing up the old Burswood Park Golf Course clubhouse" and is expected to have a capacity of 2,500 people and could cost anywhere between A$10M ($7.26M) and A$15M ($10.88M), should start in February. It is understood bar entrepreneur and ex-Subiaco Hotel Manager Tim McLernon "has submitted a proposal for the bar." The Burswood venue "should be finished in time" for the opening of the stadium in early '18 (WA TODAY, 12/18).
