Olympic Notes: Former OCI President Pat Hickey Vows To Clear His Name

Former Olympic Council of Ireland President Pat Hickey has returned to Dublin and said that "he will continue to fight to clear his name after being charged in Brazil in August over an alleged scheme to sell Olympic tickets illegally." Hickey was allowed to return home after posting R$1.5M ($445,785) in bail last week. Hickey said, "I have returned to Ireland where I will undergo ongoing medical treatment under the care of my medical consultant" (RTE, 12/19).

PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics Organizing Committee President Lee Hee-beom called the Gangneung Ice Arena test event a success following the completion of the Int'l Skating Union Short Track World Cup. Over the course of three days, more than 29,000 spectators came to see the action at the arena which will host the short track and figure skating competitions at PyeongChang 2018 (IOC).
