Olympic Notes: British Olympic Execs To Ask England Rugby Coach For Help

British Olympic chiefs are asking England rugby head coach Eddie Jones for help to prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Games. Ex-Japan coach Jones has guided England to a record-equaling 14 Test wins in a row since taking up the role last year. British Olympic Association Chair Hugh Robertson said, "We're seeking his advice for a number of reasons. Firstly, he's an extraordinarily successful coach. Secondly, he's going to Japan before us because the Rugby World Cup is there in 2019. And thirdly, because it's a country he knows extraordinarily well" (BBC, 12/13).

Telecom Huawei joined PyeongChang 2018 as an official supplier for network equipment. Under the agreement, Huawei will provide networking equipment and relevant services for PyeongChang 2018. The tech firm plans to complete all network development projects by the end of September to provide networking services during the PyeongChang 2018 Games (PyeongChang 2018).

Organizers of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics said Tuesday that they will set up a panel of external experts to discuss how best to choose Games mascots. 2020 Games organizing committee spokesperson Hikariko Ono said that organizers are currently choosing prospective members of the panel (KYODO, 12/13).

South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism announced Tuesday it will launch a special support team for the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics. The team will be comprised of four sections: culture, content, promotion and tourism. The ministry said that the newly launched body will have about 15 members (KOREA TIMES, 12/13).
