Media Notes: Kelli Underwood To Provide Commentary For AFLW Competition

Fox Sports announced that sports broadcaster Kelli Underwood will "spearhead its commentary team" for the inaugural Australian Football League Women's competition. Underwood "made headlines" when she became the first woman to call an AFL game on TV, commentating games for Network 10 in the '09 and '10 seasons. Since her last stint calling football on TV, Underwood "has been busy." On top of hosting and commentating ANZ Championship netball each week, she has been calling AFL games on Saturday night with the ABC. That role is "set to be expanded next season with Underwood likely to be involved in more than one game per weekend" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 12/12).

Vodafone Deutschland has "expanded the HD offer" on the cable network it acquired from Kabel Deutschland. The free-to-air TV section which now contains a total of more than 20 channels was extended by Sat.1 Gold HD, ProSieben Maxx HD and Eurosport 1 HD. Eurosport, which will show the Olympic Games exclusively in Germany from '18, "recently ended its exclusive carriage deal" with Sky Deutschland, enabling it to sign distribution agreements with further platform operators (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 12/13).
