Media Notes: BeIN Signs Sublicense Deal With TF1 For World Handball Championship

BeIN Sports announced it signed a sublicense agreement with TF1 for three elimination matches of the men’s and women’s 2017 World Handball Championship. In “the case of France qualifying,” TF1 will broadcast the quarterfinals and the semifinals. The free-to-air channel will also show the final, “with or without France.” Outside of these three matches, the entire competition will be broadcast live on beIN Sports (L’ÉQUIPE, 12/7).

The 10 simulator racers who qualified for the Visa Vegas eRace will each represent one of the official FIA Formula E Championship teams in the $1M esports event, which takes place in Las Vegas on Jan. 7. Following a lottery draw, the sim racers were each assigned a team (Vegas eRace). 

IMG's production of the Grand National for Channel 4 Racing has won the Sports Media Award of the Year 2016 at the Int'l Sports Convention in Geneva. The award was voted on by members of the Int'l Sports Chamber of Commerce in recognition of this year's coverage which gave Channel 4 its largest audience in '16 with an average of 10 million viewers tuning in for the 40-runner, 4.5-mile race over Aintree's 30 fences. Grand National was watched by an estimated worldwide audience of 600 million in over 140 countries (IMG).
