Premier League side West Ham United's large, illuminated sign on the outside of the London Stadium will be removed or covered when the athletics World Championships are staged in London next summer -- "but the club will not have to pay a penny" toward the cost of doing so. West Ham's tenancy contract includes the requirement that a “clean” stadium be delivered for the championships, with all evidence of club branding, signs and sponsors removed. UK Athletics confirmed that requirement includes the large “West Ham United” sign that was erected at "considerable expense" on the superstructure and faces toward crowds heading to the stadium from the Westfield shopping center (LONDON TIMES, 12/8).
Mitsubishi Electric Corp. announced that it installed a 6-by-54 meter Diamond VisionTM screen at the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Happy Valley Racecourse. The screen, which has 3.5 times higher resolution and 1.5 times higher contrast than the current system, is expected to improve spectators’ in-race experience and provide clear information, such as odds information and race conditions (Mitsubishi).

With the "switch from the Estadio Vicente Calderon nailed on" for the '17-18 season, the club fears that the pitch and final details of its new home "will not be perfected until September" (MARCA, 12/8).
