MotoGP Becomes First Motorsport To Partner With Sports Data Company Sportradar

MotoGP announced that starting in '17, the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 seasons will be overseen by Sportradar’s Integrity Services as part of a multi-year integrity partnership. In a first for the motorsport industry, Sportradar will be providing a range of integrity services. The Fraud Detection System will monitor and analyze betting movements and patterns across all 54 races of the three year-long seasons. In addition, Sportradar will deliver five education and prevention workshops to a range of participants and stakeholders, as well as providing an e-learning program for all riders and teams (MotoGP). REUTERS' Alan Baldwin reported motorsport "has not featured in any of the quarterly reports issued this year" by the European Sports Security Association, which shares information with betting firms and sports governing bodies to "detect possible corruption." Of the 37 suspicious betting alerts during the third quarter of '16, 31 were in tennis. The remainder were in football, beach volleyball, volleyball and table tennis. Sportradar also works with a number of organizations including UEFA, the Rugby Football Union and the Int'l Cricket Council. ESSA and Sportradar announced in June a partnership to "tackle match-fixing in tennis by pooling resources and expertise" (REUTERS, 12/7).
