Massimo Cellino Facing £250,000 Fine, 18-Month Suspension Over '14 Transfer

League Championship side Leeds United Owner Massimo Cellino is facing a £250,000 ($315,290) fine and 18-month suspension from football "after being found guilty of breaching FA regulations in regards to the transfer of Ross McCormack to Fulham" in '14, according to Simon Jones of the London DAILY MAIL. An FA commission is "also poised to fine Cellino's club" a further £250,000 after spending more than 12 months investigating allegations of an illegal payment authorized by the club during McCormack’s £10.75M transfer. The sanctions "will reflect a tougher stance being taken by the FA on transfers" after Arsenal was fined £60,000 for a similar breach of agent regulations in Oct. '15 over the transfer of Calum Chambers. The case against Cellino was "thrown into doubt last month as it hinged on evidence provided by key witness Graham Bean who worked as a consultant for Leeds United at the time of the McCormack transfer." Leeds and Cellino are "expected to lodge an appeal" once the FA confirms its findings. Cellino has been discussing a 50% sale of Leeds United to businessman Andrea Radrizzani (DAILY MAIL, 12/7).
