Olympic Notes: World Baseball Softball Confederation Unsure Of Fukushima Facilities

The World Baseball Softball Confederation is reportedly "having doubts" about the city of Fukushima's infrastructure to host part of the baseball and softball competition at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The sources said that WBSC told the 2020 organizing committee it is "concerned with the facilities at Fukushima's Azuma Stadium and unless improvement is seen, it would be difficult to hold games there." WBSC was "unimpressed" by the stadium and prefers the two other options it has in Fukushima Prefecture -- Kaiseizan Stadium in Koriyama and the Green Stadium in Iwaki (KYODO, 12/6).

The Olympic Council of Asia is "aware of graft allegations" against Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Secretary General Dody Iswandi involving abuse of a marketing project to promote the 2018 Asian Games. KOI Deputy Chair Muddai Madang clarified that the OCA has "already responded to the matter." Muddai said, "Yes, we were reprimanded, because the OCA doesn't want the Asian Games to be perceived badly by the public." KOI said that it has "managed the Asian Games organizing committee properly and conformed to good ethical standards" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 12/6).
