The name of Atlético Madrid's new stadium "will be revealed on Friday" at an event taking place at the team's current Estadio Vicente Calderón home, according to Alberto R. Barbero of MARCA. The club "had been considering three names for the venue" it will move to next summer and has come to a "final decision." One of the businesses rumored to have secured the naming rights is Wanda, the Chinese company which holds 20% of the club's shares, "especially after" La Liga President Javier Tebas referred to the new venue as the "Estadio Wanda" in November. Fans will discover on Friday "if that was simply a misunderstanding" or if Wanda "will indeed be awarded the rights," which Atlético hopes will be worth €10M ($10.7M) per season on a five-year deal -- its "second most valuable sponsorship income after the shirt sponsorship" (MARCA, 12/6). The EFE reported Atlético President Enrique Cerezo said that there were previously three candidates for the stadium sponsorship, and another had been added. Cerezo: "There are now three or four candidates and we will see which one wins" (EFE, 12/6).
