Belgian Football Opens Tender Process For Top-Tier Broadcast Rights

Belgium’s Pro League launched the tender for the broadcast rights to the top-tier Pro League and the Supercoupe de Belgique for the coming seasons, according to BELGA. The Pro League, which represents the interests of the 24 Pro League clubs and the second division Proximus League, “launched the tender process for the broadcast rights” in Belgium and Luxembourg starting with the ’17-18 season. In a statement, the Pro League said, “These competitions … are followed every week by thousands of passionate fans. In order to meet their expectations, the Pro League uses the highest level of production standards and constantly searches for the best local and regional partners to effectively cover the broadcasts throughout the country.” MP & Silva will “play a new role as a consultant during the process.” The previous contract for ’14-17 was won by Belgacom, Telenet and VOO (BELGA, 11/30).
