Event Notes: Mexico City Exec Says Regular-Season MLB Games Possible Next Year

After the MLB held preseason games at Mexico City's Fray Nano stadium in '16, "there is hope for more MLB activity in Mexico City next year, but this time with a regular-season game." Mexico City Sports Institute (INDEPORTE) Dir General Horacio de la Vega "said as much, and also confirmed that due to the schedule, the only option would be to have games in August or September." He also confirmed that the L.A. Dodgers "are the first option" (LA AFICIÓN, 11/30).

The Ladies Professional Golf Association on Wednesday announced its '17 schedule including four new tournaments and an increase of $4.35M in official prize money. Joining the 35-event LPGA Tour schedule are events in the Green Bay, Wisconsin, area, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and in Scotland and New Zealand, with a record $67.35M in prize money on offer (REUTERS, 11/30).

Serie A side AS Roma fans said that they will "boycott Sunday's derby against Lazio for the third time in a row," once again "taking the gloss of what used to be one of Europe's most passionate fixtures." The "hardcore supporters" who occupy the Curva Sud (south curve) at Rome's Olympic stadium are protesting against "security measures they say are destroying their fan culture." On the other hand, Lazio fans, who also boycotted the previous derby in March, "are expected to end their protest, with Italian media reporting that their part of the stadium had been sold out for Sunday's meeting" (REUTERS, 12/1).
