Hibernian's Home Crowds Up 60% On Heels Of Scottish Cup Title

Scottish Championship side Hibernian's home attendances have "jumped a whopping 60 percent on the back of their Scottish Cup success in May," according to the Scotland DAILY RECORD. The Easter Road crowds have "swelled" by 5,627 on average in the Championship this season "as Neil Lennon's men lead the pack in the second tier." In contrast, second-place Dundee United has seen its average crowd "plummet by an alarming" 2,239 after its relegation from the top flight. A season-high 16,477 turned out for the opening day victory over Dunfermline -- in comparison to 12 months earlier when just 8,923 saw the club beat Morton 1-0. In six home league fixtures so far "Hibs have averaged 15,094 -- a rise of 5,627 from last year's average 9,467 at the same stage." Dundee United cannot "even muster half of that figure at Tannadice though." The club's average after seven home matches is 6,538 -- as opposed to 8,777 at this stage of the Premiership last season (DAILY RECORD, 11/17).
