The British Olympic Association announced TIM ELLERTON, former global sponsorship manager at Heineken, as its new commercial director. Ellerton, who will start in the post in the new year, "will head up the BOA’s commercial operations and revenue generating activities including commercial partnerships, sponsorship, licensing, fundraising, and retail." He will also be part of the BOA’s Senior Leadership Team. Joining after eight years at Heineken, "he was responsible for the company’s main sports properties including the UEFA Champions League, Rugby World Cup and Formula 1" (ISPORT CONNECT, 11/14). ... France’s women’s tennis team captain AMÉLIE MAURESMO has stepped down from her position following the squad’s loss to the Czech Republic in the Fed Cup finals. Mauresmo had been captain since ’13, and is leaving because she is pregnant with her second child (FFT). ... Basketball League Belgium D1 side Mons-Hainaut Exec Board President RONALD GOBERT is leaving his post. FRANK ALLAND will replace Gobert at the head of the board (LA MEUSE, 11/14). ... Veteran int'l rugby player and former United World Sports VP DAN LYLE will serve as the new AEG Rugby division's director (AEG). ... KIM ANDERSEN has been elected as World Sailing president at World Sailing's general assembly at the '16 annual conference in Barcelona. The president and VPs, two of which must be female, were voted for by World Sailing's full member national authorities. Joining the World Sailing president on the board of directors will be JAN DAWSON, TORBEN GRAEL, GARY JOBSON, QUANHAI LI, W. SCOTT PERRY, ANA SANCHEZ and NADINE STEGENWALNER (World Sailing). ... William Hill said that it had appointed JOHN O'REILLY, former managing director at Coral Interactive, ROBIN TERRELL, former chief customer officer at Tesco, and MARK BROOKER, former COO at Betfair, as non-exec directors. The bookmaker remains without a permanent CEO after JAMES HENDERSON "abruptly stood down in July" (FINANCIAL TIMES, 11/14).

COACHES/MANAGERS: ANDREW GALE has been confirmed as JASON GILLESPIE's "successor as first-team coach" at Yorkshire County Cricket and has "called time on his playing career." The 32-year-old will take over from Gillespie and "has signed a three-year contract after ending a 12-year playing career, the final seven of which were as Yorkshire’s captain." Gillespie had announced his decision to leave at the end of the '16 season and "narrowly missed out on a third consecutive County Championship title on the final day of the season" (London GUARDIAN, 11/14).
