Although a decision "has not yet been taken on the naming rights" for Atlético Madrid's new stadium, the club is "currently mulling over three possibilities," according to Alberto R. Barbero of MARCA. Íñigo Aznar, the club's new commercial director, "has narrowed it down after a lengthy process that began many months ago." Wang Jianlin, the Chinese businessman who is the owner of the Wanda company, "is determined to make his mark in Spain and has made an offer for the naming rights" to the club's new home which will open for next season. However, sources revealed that owning 20% of Atlético's social capital "will not be vital" in swaying the deal in Wanda's favor (MARCA, 11/10). EL PAÍS reported La Liga President Javier Tebas said Thursday, "Atleti is going to bring us to see the new stadium, or Wanda stadium, better said." Some of those "who heard his comment believed he was joking." The club "denied that an agreement has been reached for La Peineta to receive the name of the Chinese firm, but did not rule out the possibility of this happening" (EL PAÍS, 11/10).
