Former Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) President JOSÉ LUIS ESCAÑUELA's legal action against Spanish Superior Sports Council (CSD) President MIGUEL CARDENAL and CSD Dir General of Sports ANA MUÑOZ "has been archived." A Madrid court said that "the charges against Cardenal and Muñoz did not constitute anything illicit" (SPORT, 11/7). ... A fund set up to support jockey FREDDY TYLICKI after he was left paralyzed from the waist down in a fall at Kempton last Monday "has passed its target" of £200,000 ($247,860) in just two days. Tylicki "suffered a T7 paralysis in a four-horse pile-up riding Nellie Dean." At The Races presenter MATT CHAPMAN set up a GoFundMe page "to raise money for the jockey's recovery." Chapman: "The response has been incredible and the money raised is more than I could ever imagine" (BBC, 11/7). ... Barcelona is "celebrating another LIONEL MESSI landmark, after the Argentina forward scored his 500th goal for the club on Sunday." The 29-year-old "netted Barcelona's first in a 2-1 win over Sevilla." That took Messi to 500 in 592 games for the Catalan club, including friendlies, "with 469 of those in official fixtures" (BBC, 11/7).
