Shippey Offers Funding For EPL Clubs To Build Sensory Rooms At Stadiums

Premier League football clubs "will have the opportunity to apply for funding to help fans with sensory difficulties in a major breakthrough for the Shippey Campaign," according to Aaron Gourley of FC BUSINESS. BT and the Premier League have teamed up with the Shippey Campaign and disability sports charity the Lord’s Taverners, "to fund sensory rooms across the twenty Premier League clubs." As part of the Premier League and BT Disability Programme, which launched in September, the "new unique spaces will allow adults and children with sensory difficulties to watch live football matches from a room with a window onto the pitch, in a calm environment away from the noise and crowds." Launched in Sept. '15, the Nathan Shippey Sensory Room at Sunderland's Stadium of Light "was the first of its kind." Premier League clubs "can apply for funding at any time" throughout the '16-17 season (FC BUSINESS, 10/21).
