Local authorities said that American basketball player CAMERON MOORE, who joined Macedonian team AV Ohrid this week, "died suddenly during his first practice session." The team's legal representative said that the 25-year old "arrived late Monday from Venice, Italy." He said that the player "had been in Ohrid, a tourist resort town in southern Macedonia, for a matter of hours before dying Tuesday." Moore had signed a preliminary deal "with the Ohrid team and had just begun medical tests" (AP, 10/6). ... La Liga side Eibar players SERGI ENRICH and ANTONIO LUNA have written a "lengthy apology after a sex tape featuring the two of them and a woman leaked online and went viral on Wednesday." Enrich published the statement to his Twitter account "apologizing to SD Eibar, its fans, and the other person involved for any damage that may have been done to all parties, stressing that the 'private act' was uploaded without their consent" (FOX SPORTS, 10/6).

BUDGIE NINE: Red Bull Racing's DANIEL RICCIARDO "supports a group of fellow Australians who were detained in Malaysia following his race win on Oct. 2." Nine men have been in custody "since being detained by authorities for stripping to Malaysian flag-decorated underwear beneath the podium last Sunday." Ricciardo said, "Obviously I'm aware of it, but at the time I wasn't. At the time they thought it was a bit of harmless fun and were enjoying the celebrations. ... It's a shame, but they were in the moment" (GMM, 10/5). Nine Australians arrested for "stripping off" at the Malaysian F1 GP have "walked free from a court." In a letter read out in court, they apologized and expressed their "deepest regret" (BBC, 10/6).
