Serie A side Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini criticized Frank Cascio’s failed bid to buy Palermo but admitted talks with a Chinese consortium over a possible sale "are ongoing." American businessman Cascio wrote a letter to fans to "officially announce his withdrawal from negotiations." However, in an interview with Giornale Di Sicilia, Zamparini revealed that while Cascio’s bid "was never likely to succeed, talks with the unnamed Chinese group are progressing well." He said, "The Chinese officials will be here next week and we will continue the talks that have already begun" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 9/26).
The head of cycling’s anti-doping campaign group "has questioned why Team Sky and other leading teams have refused to join them." Movement for Credible Cycling (MPCC) President Roger Legeay said that he "could not understand why teams did not join the group -- members agree to abide by strict rules" on therapeutic use exemptions (TUEs) and their riders will not race having taken corticoids, "the controversial medication" used by Bradley Wiggins for pollen allergy before three important races in '11, '12 and '13 (LONDON TIMES, 9/26).
