Media Notes: BT Trials VR Premier League Match In Four London EE Stores

Football fans experienced a Premier League football clash between Chelsea and Arsenal live in virtual reality "in four flagship EE stores in London, as part of a new BT Sport trial." BT Sport filmed the game using VR cameras and is "working with LiveLike, a VR platform company that allows broadcasters and sports teams to deliver immersive viewing experiences, so fans can choose from four different viewpoints." They also experienced the game as if they were "pitch-side or sitting in the crowd, watching the two London clubs battle it out." The trial ran in four flagship EE stores in London: Westfield Stratford, Oxford Street, Marble Arch and Tottenham Court Road (EVENT MAGAZINE, 9/23).

After the creation of Canal+ Rio for this summer’s Olympic Games, the channel “decided to re-up the offering with Canal+ Tennis” during the Masters 1000 de Paris Bercy. For the week of Oct. 29-Nov. 6, Canal+ Tennis will take the place of Canal+ Décalé. The channel will broadcast all matches from court No. 1, “as well as the doubles final.” The rest of the time it will show “rebroadcasts of matches” (MEDIA SPORTIF, 9/23).

A new social network designed to "help players connect with clubs, scouts, agents and coaches has launched." Playerhunter aims to simplify "the process of trawling for players, checking them out and speeding the time to contract," while at the same time opening up the number of opportunities to find the clubs that would work for them. Playerhunter is a "free-to-use platform that allows a player to showcase his or her CV and videos to coaches, scouts and agents." All players "are treated equally on the platform." Each registered player "has their own personal profile page with a CV section, which allows him to upload multimedia content." Clubs and brands also have a "dedicated area for sharing images and videos, and updating followers with the latest news" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 9/23).
