League Notes: ICC Introduces Changes To Code Of Conduct, DRS Umpire's Call

The ICC has "introduced changes to its Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel and the DRS Umpire's Call interpretation," effective from Sept. 22. There has been "no change to the list of offences" in the Code of Conduct, or the current penalty regime of warnings, fines and suspensions applicable to each offense. But players who have breached the code will now also accumulate “Demerit Points,” which can see repeat offenders suspended (DAWN, 9/23).

Pakistan Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq on Sunday said that sports must be separated from politics and added that he "aims for a cricket series between Pakistan and India." He said, "Pakistan is always ready to play against India but what can we do if they do not want to play. If India can play against Pakistan in ICC events then why not in bilateral series?" He added that sports, especially cricket, "can bring the people of India and Pakistan together" (DAWN, 9/25).

The Professional Golf Tour of India has adopted anti-doping rules, "paving the way for dope testing of professional golfers." With regulations in place for most of the golf tours, the Indians playing abroad "have already been subject to these procedures." A PGTI statement said that since golf has become part of the Olympics, the "need for having an anti-doping structure on the PGTI had become imperative" (THE HINDU, 9/25).
