SERGIO BUENO was named the new coach of Liga MX side Chiapas on Sunday. He replaces JOSÉ SATURNINO CARDOZO, "who only coached the team for nine games, leading it to just four of 27 possible points." Bueno previously coached Chiapas in '03 and '13 (LA AFICIÓN, 9/18). ... Former Barcelona and Real Madrid striker JAVIER SAVIOLA has "taken on a coaching role" with Andorran Primera Divisió side FC Ordino after deciding to relocate to the country with his family. Saviola, 34, had been "without a club since leaving River Plate in January." It is "unclear whether his move into coaching will now signal the end of his days on the pitch." He will "initially work with Ordino's junior sides and is expected to help out with the first team" (ESPN.com, 9/19). ... The West Indies Cricket Board recruited the services of former Middlesex and Sussex cricketer TOBY RADFORD as batting coach "for the series against Pakistan" in the UAE. WICB CEO MICHAEL MUIRHEAD said that Radford has been "hired just for the series against Pakistan," which involves three T20Is, three One-Dayers and three Test matches from Sept. 23 (IANS, 9/18). ... Polish Ekstraklasa side Legia Warsaw has sacked head coach BESNIK HASI three months "after he was appointed following a run of poor results." In his short tenure, 44-year-old Albanian Hasi, who was appointed in June, "led the club in the Champions League group stage, the first time in 20 years a Polish club has made an appearance in Europe's elite club competition" (SKY SPORTS, 9/19). ... Sky News, in the process of a major re-organization ahead of a studio move, has appointed CRISTINA NICOLOTTI SQUIRES as director of content. Squires will be in charge of output across all Sky platforms including TV, mobile, social media and radio. She will also head up special programming including Sky News documentaries, debate programs and the weekly panel show, The Pledge. She has over 20 years of experience working as a journalist for ITN, holding a variety of positions throughout her career. She joins Sky from 5 News where she is editor (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 9/19). ... Independent Sports & Entertainment, the athlete management and sports-related investment company controlled by billionaire RON BURKLE, named adidas exec CHRIS GRANCIO its CMO. Grancio, 41, had been the GM of global basketball for the sneaker and apparel company, where he managed its partnership with the NBA and player endorsement contracts. At ISE, he will be responsible for developing new revenue streams, creating corporate partnerships and landing local, national and int’l deals for the firm’s more than 300 NFL, NBA and MLB clients. In his new role, Grancio will also oversee the company’s expansion into film, digital content, TV, fashion, live events and the retail and hospitality industries (BLOOMBERG, 9/19). ... Under Armour named VP/global ecommerce JASON LAROSE president of North America, succeeding MATTHEW MIRCHIN, who "will transition to an adviser role at the company." LaRose joined UA in '13 from Express. Mirchin "will become strategic advisor of global revenue" (BIZJOURNALS, 9/16). The changes "are effective Oct. 1." Under Armour sells 67% of its products wholesale, but "so-called 'direct to consumer' sales -- which include online purchases and sales at Under Armour brand houses and outlets -- have been growing." LaRose will "continue to lead e-commerce during the transition and will help in the search for his successor" (BALTIMORE SUN, 9/16). ... Hampshire Cricket announced that Southern Vipers captain CHARLOTTE EDWARDS has been appointed a non-exec board director of Hampshire Cricket Ltd. and Southern Vipers Ltd. Edwards will be helping Hampshire Cricket, the Southern Vipers and their various stakeholder organizations with their strategy of broadening cricket’s appeal across Hampshire and the South Central region more generally. The right-hander captained England Women’s side for more than a decade before retiring in May (Hampshire Cricket).
