German sports network Sport1 "drew 200,000 viewers for its broadcast of the German Hockey League (DEL) opener on Friday," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The game between EHC Red Bull Munich and Cologne Sharks attracted a peak audience of 300,000 viewers. The number translated into a market share of 0.8%. In the target demographic 14-49, Cologne 3-1 victory obtained a 1% share. For the 14-49 male demographic, Sport1's hockey coverage had a 1.9% share. Sunday's broadcast of the game between Dusseldorf and Berlin was watched by 190,000 viewers. The World Cup of Hockey, which also airs on Sport1, drew 80,000 viewers for the game between Russia and Sweden. The corresponding market share was 0.3%.
FOOTBALL SUNDAY: German free-to-air TV channel ProSieben Maxx obtained market shares of up to 5.9% in the target demo for its NFL broadcasts on Sunday. The game between the L.A. Rams and Seattle Seahawks had a market share of 5.9%. The earlier game between Pittsburgh and Cincinnati drew more than 2% as up to 380,000 viewers tuned in (DWDL, 9/19).
PARALYMPICS IN FRANCE: L’ÉQUIPE reported for its first Paralympic Games broadcasts, “France Télévisions drew 13.6 million viewers to France 2 and France 4.” From Sept. 7-18, 13.6 million French viewers “watched at least 15 minutes of the 100 hours” of Paralympic coverage. On Sept. 9, France 2 drew a peak audience of 1.6 million for the men’s T35 100m. France 4 drew 900,000 viewers on Sept. 12 for the SN4 150m swimming competition (L’ÉQUIPE, 9/19).
