Atlético Madrid Manager Diego Simeone's Contract To Expire In '18 Instead Of '20

In a move that "perhaps deviates from footballing norms," Atlético Madrid and Manager Diego Simeone "have reached an agreement to reduce the Argentine's contract by two years," with his current deal now set expire in '18, according to Ainhoa Sánchez of MARCA. Despite signing an extension to his existing contract back in March '15, "it is well known" that he "has long been considering his future with the Colchoneros." Although this summer Simeone "chose to stay in the Spanish capital -- turning down an offer to become the highest paid coach in the world in the process -- a compromise resolution has now been reached" that will see two years taken off the contract signed in '15 (MARCA, 9/15).
