NFL Week 1 Games Draw 300K Viewers On ProSieben Maxx, 100K More Than Last Year

German free-to-air TV channel ProSieben Maxx "has recorded up to 300,000 viewers for its broadcast of Sunday's NFL games," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The channel's new 30-minute pregame show, #ranNFLsüchtig, obtained a 1.8% market share as 140,000 tuned in starting at 6:30pm. The game between the N.Y. Giants and Dallas Cowboys drew an average market share of 3%. The earlier broadcast of the game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the N.Y. Jets was watched by 300,000 viewers and had a 2.3% share. In comparison to last season, ProSieben Maxx's Week 1 viewership grew by 100,000.

BUNDESLIGA GAMES: German pay-TV channel Sky Deutschland attracted close to 1 million viewers for its Bundesliga broadcasts on Saturday.  The coverage drew an average of 980,000 viewers starting at 3:30pm on Saturday. The number translated into a market share of 14.2% in the target demographic 14-49. The game between Bayern Munich and Schalke was the highest viewed match of the weekend after 1.08 million viewers tuned in on Friday evening. The game between Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, which kicked off at 6:30pm, obtained a 6% market share in the target demo as 580,000 viewers tuned in.

US OPEN: Pan-European sports network Eurosport drew an average viewership of 1.14 million on Saturday evening for the coverage of the women's final. The game, which saw Germany's Angelique Kerber win her second grand slam title, drew a 6.6% share. The men's final on Sunday obtained a 2.4% share as 330,000 viewers tuned in. In the target demo, Stan Wawrinka's victory drew a 1.8% share (DWDL, 9/12).

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: L’ÉQUIPE reported Tuesday night’s Paris St. Germain vs. Arsenal (1-1) Champions League match drew an average of 1 million viewers on beIN Sports 1, “with a peak audience of 1.1 million.” The audience “placed beIN Sports fifth in viewership numbers in France for the night” (L’ÉQUIPE, 9/14).
