Limelight Sports Group Receives Undisclosed Investment From DCT Ventures

Sports agency Limelight Sports Group "has received an undisclosed investment from DCT Ventures, the investment arm of media owner DC Thomson," according to Kim Benjamin of EVENT MAGAZINE. The investment will enable Limelight Sports Group to "continue its global growth strategy." It currently has offices in Melbourne, Australia, and last year "launched a presence in Dubai." Limelight Sports’ clients include brands such as Nike, Royal Bank of Canada and Wiggle. The agency "has created and runs a variety of major participation sport campaigns" such as Swimathon, Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile, The Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon and Active City Sports Melbourne (EVENT MAGAZINE, 9/14). This deal marks the first transaction for DCT Ventures since moving its investment focus from early-stage businesses to larger growth capital and buy-out opportunities. DCT Ventures seeks to invest between £2M ($2.65M) and £10M ($13.2M) in U.K.-headquartered companies that are led by first class management teams, have robust business models and have the potential for substantial growth (Limelight).
