Event Notes: Hong Kong To Host Asian Leg Of Continental Skyrunning Champs

Hong Kong will again host the Asian leg of the 2016 Continental Skyrunning Champs on Lantau in December. The Lantau 50 Ultra Skymarathon, with over 3,400m elevation gain, will take place on Dec. 4 on the same day as the Lantau Skyrace over 27km with over 2,000m of elevation. Organizers have confirmed 120 int'l runners from 22 countries for October’s HK50, "which is also expected to generate" over HK$1M ($130,000) for the local economy (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 9/1).

The NBA, FIBA and the Finnish Basketball Association announced the top 41 boys from 22 European countries who will travel to the first Basketball without Borders (BWB) Europe Camp in Finland, which will be held Sept. 7-10 at Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja. BWB Europe will bring together the top male players born in '99 from across Europe to learn directly from current and former NBA and FIBA players and coaches, including Cole Aldrich (Minnesota Timberwolves; U.S.), Jerryd Bayless (Philadelphia 76ers; U.S.), Spencer Hawes (Charlotte Hornets; U.S.), Andre Miller (most recently with the San Antonio Spurs; U.S.) and Beno Udrih (Miami Heat; Slovenia). They will be joined by former NBA players Vladimir Radmanovic (Serbia) and Ronny Turiaf (France), and by FBA coach Hanno Möttölä, the first Finnish NBA player. BWB Europe will also include an elite camp for the top female players from Finland, a Jr. NBA camp for local youth, and NBA Cares community outreach efforts teaching the importance of an active lifestyle and the values of the game (NBA).

For the first time since ’98, the final of the French Coupe de la Ligue “will not be held at the Stade de France.” The French Professional Football League (LFP) announced that the next edition “will be held in Lyon, at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.” The first three finals, from ’95-97, “were held at the Parc des Princes.” The ’18 edition will be organized in Bordeaux, at the Matmut-Atlantique Stadium, and in ’19 “it will be held in Lille at Stade Pierre-Mauroy” (L’ÉQUIPE, 9/1).
